AWD stalling at idle

I did mention that the AFM fault code/CEL did not appear until the day the car started radically misbehaving, after having an intermittent stalling problem for 18 months previously.

Replace AFM with a second hand one(only after I saw dashboard code and nearly needed a tow truck)>> not one stalling episode since early March this year.

I am quite certain that both are related.

Just to add:

About 12 months ago,the only change made that might influence driveability issues was a change to a new NTK oxygen sensor.

Stalling behavior continued periodically.

The new sensor did not overcome the problem, as I hoped it would.

No other changes have been made from when the stalling problem became apparent.

I have never reset the ECU since purchasing the car in March 2015(either by placing a scan tool in the serial port, or disconnecting the battery) which may prompt the ECU to do a "relearn".

The only other possible change that I can think that would be related is the Cold Air Intake that I added 2 months after purchase, but stalling problems did not start then, and they were eliminated completely once the AFM was replaced, so I have had 7 months 100% trouble free driving, even with the modified CAI still in place.

Other than oil changes carried out by me, and "bashing" the air filter to get rid of some accumulated debris that otherwise looks quite good, no other changes have been made.
